Hello Owl Families! My name is Daria Ramirez and I am the proud principal of Old Orchard Elementary. This marks my 20th year in education. At the heart of my practice is building strong relationships with the staff, students, and the families I serve. I have devoted my career to educating and advocating for ALL students, both as a classroom teacher and as an administrator. I am excited to bring my passion and experience to cultivate the unique educational programs that Old Orchard has to offer. My goal is that every student feels empowered, celebrated, and valued by our school community. Collectively, we can make a positive impact in the lives of our students at Old Orchard.

My name is Mike Curry and I could not be more excited to join the team at Old Orchard.

While I am new to Newhall, I want you to know that I come with experience in many different roles.  I started as a 4th grade teacher in Malden, Massachusetts.  While I was a general education teacher, I got my Master's in Special Education as I knew I could do a better job teaching ALL of my students.  When I moved to California, I became a Special Education teacher, co-teaching in 4th, 5th, and 8th grades.

I then made the transition to school admin, always with the same mission of supporting ALL students. I served as an Assistant Principal at two middle schools, one in South LA, and more recently at one in North Hollywood.

I finally feel at home here at OO, as I live nearby in Castaic with my wife and two dogs.  There you can probably find me playing video games, working out, or working on various home improvement projects.
