Every child at Newhall School has the opportunity to participate in the extensive music program offered by the Newhall School District. Primary students in grades Kindergarten through second grade sing, read rhythms, play instruments and study composers of the past. Third grade students practice and learn to play recorders. Fourth through sixth grade students have the option of participating in chorus, taught in a semester basis every other week, and/or in playing an instrument in orchestra. Orchestra is offered at a variety of skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Some of the different groups include: band, strings, percussion, brass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, violins and low bass.
An informational meeting about orchestra is typically held at the end of each school year for those interested in joining the following year. Look for flyers coming home for specific dates and information.
